Connection that feeds the soul. Vulnerability with each other. The everyday little things. The feeling of releasing a deep breath in nature. Light of every kind. These moments are the meaning behind my photographs. They’re my inspiration.
I’ve been a Graphic Designer turned Photographer for over 13 years. I bought my first digital camera when I had my first baby and quickly discovered how much I love photographing the real stuff. Becoming a mother made me feel even more than I ever thought possible, and Photography helped (s) me through the struggles and see the raw beauty in those fleeting days.
I didn’t get in front of the camera much when my kids were small, and it's a huge regret of mine. A few selfies with them here and there, sure, but there's nothing like flipping through an album with printed photos. You must get in front of the camera so that the people in your life will remember your presence. When they see your smile, they’ll remember your laugh. When you’re photographed in the kitchen, they’ll remember the taste of the food you made for them. And when you bath your little one in the sink, maybe just maybe, they’ll remember the smell of the soap and the way your fingertips felt in their hair. It’s about so much more than looking perfect; it’s about the time you have together, the messy, the love. This perfectly imperfect is the good stuff.
We've all got one shot at this beautiful life. Let's get together and make some art.
I’ve had a camera in hand since I was a child and been photographing professionally for over 13 years. This is absolutely my passion.
With a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts. (Graphic Design focus) and late nights in the photography darkroom, I've learned to look at everything with that creative eye. Light, composition, figure/form, how to work within constraints, and how to create with freedom. What I've been taught is immeasurable.
I have three children of my own, spaced out in age. And I've been through different stages with each of them. I empathize with and understand your needs. Want to talk about something? I'm right here. Need space to breath deeply and just enjoy your time? I'm all for it. Honestly, I'm open book and always willing to listen.
I grew up on a farm knowing what hard work is, and I've put that effort into my photography. I also now appreciate the importance of letting children be free and curious. To allow them to be themselves, use their imaginations, and not be contained. That's when their personalities come out, and that's when I get some of my best images.
Living in the city has opened my eyes to so many new experiences, but it's also made me realize how much I miss the slower-paced living I once had. Having kids especially has taught me to be in the present moment, and I try to bring that mindset into each session.
There’s no set amount of minutes for our session. I show up thoughtfully and take time with you. It can take a bit to get into the flow of things, and I want you to feel comfortable. If that means going longer and you're able to, that's what we'll do. I'll often end a session with, "oh, I have an idea," "just one more thing," or "last one...wait come on over here." The creativity keeps flowing, and I just want to keep going!
Continuing to learn is important to me so that I can be the best I can be for you. I take educational courses and have traveled many places for workshops and retreats. Learning new things expands my skill-set and perspective on all walks of life.
